Two suspects were arrested following the swift response of SANParks rangers to reports of vehicle tampering in the Cape Point parking area in the southern section of Table Mountain National Park.
The rangers received reports of suspicious activity near the parked vehicles on Friday 6 March.
When the suspects realised they had been caught, they fled the scene in a grey BMW hatchback. The rangers followed and intercepted them at the Olifantsbos parking area.
A remote-jamming device, believed to have been used to interfere with the vehicle’s locking systems, was found in their car.
The two suspects were arrested by the Simon’s Town Police.
Visitors can report crime or any other problems to the Table Mountain National Park Emergency Services on 021 480 7700.
