Five armed robbers escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash and a security guard’s weapon after targeting a Fidelity cash-in-transit vehicle outside Liquor City in Brackenfell this morning.
The robbery occurred at around 11:40 when the suspects, traveling in two vehicles, struck as the security team was conducting their cash collection routine at the liquor store in Old Paarl Road.
Brackenfell Station Commander Colonel Jakobus Marthinus confirmed that the robbers made off with both an undisclosed sum of money and the Fidelity guard’s firearm during the incident.
“The police are currently following up on all leads,” Marthinus stated, indicating that investigations are underway to track down the perpetrators.
No injuries were reported during the robbery.
