BLOEMFONTEIN – A serious multi-vehicle accident occurred at approximately 06:35 today (15 November) on the N8 road between Botshabelo and Bloemfontein, near the RRR farming area. The incident involved a bus train and a heavy motor vehicle, with emergency medical services (EMS) on the scene.

Casualty report:

According to the alert issued by S.S. Towa, chairperson of the Free State Road Incident Management System (RIMS), 19 individuals suffered minor injuries. Five suffered moderate injuries, with six individuals critically injured. Ten fatalities were confirmed on scene ( seven men, three women, all adults).

Patients have since been transported to the Braam Fischer Busamed Hospital, Pelonomi Trauma Hospital, and the Botshabelo Hospital.

With the current rainy weather conditions, it is believed this contributed to the severity of the crash

Lanes heading into Bloemfontein are currently closed, and motorists are advised to use alternative routes and drive cautiously.
