The Parklands community in Cape Town is reeling after the tragic death of 17-year-old Connor Niske, a beloved head boy and outstanding learner at Parklands College.
The cause of death has not yet been made public.
A young man who made a lasting impact
In a heartfelt tribute on social media, Parklands College described Connor as an exceptional young man who left a profound mark on both Parklands College and Christopher Robin Pre-Primary School.
“He was involved in many aspects of school life, including robotics, engineering and public speaking,” the school said.
The school remembered Connor as someone who embodied kindness, integrity and humility.
“Connor led with kindness, integrity and humility, bringing joy, warmth and positivity to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.”
The tribute highlighted the lasting impression he made on the school community through his enthusiasm, dedication and willingness to serve others.
“His enthusiasm, dedication and readiness to serve others made a lasting impact on our community. Connor’s resilience will be greatly missed, and his absence will be felt deeply by learners, educators, staff and friends.”
The school added: “Connor’s legacy of leadership, service and friendship will forever remain part of the Parklands College and Christopher Robin Pre-Primary family.”
Community in mourning
The news of Connor’s death has sent shockwaves through the Parklands community, with tributes pouring in from fellow learners, educators, parents and friends.
Parklands College has also invited former learners to join the school community in honouring Connor’s memory at a special tribute assembly. Alumni are warmly invited to gather and celebrate Connor’s life, leadership, service and the lasting impact he had on the College community.
The assembly will take place on Friday 12 June at 13:30 in Currie Hall, Secondary Faculty. The school said it welcomes all alumni who wish to pay their respects and stand together in remembrance of Connor.
