Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana will table South Africa’s 2026 national budget in the National Assembly today, outlining the government’s financial priorities for the year ahead.
The budget speech, scheduled for 14:00 today at the Nieuwmeester Dome in Cape Town, will detail how financial resources will be allocated to fund national priorities outlined by President Cyril Ramaphosa in the recent State of the Nation Address.
Godongwana faces the challenge of balancing economic growth initiatives with support for vulnerable communities amid limited resources. The minister will also introduce the Appropriation Bill and table the 2026 Division of Revenue Bill during the plenary sitting. Parliament will process both bills in the coming months.
The budget is prepared and presented according to rules set out in the Public Finance Management Act.
