JOHANNESBURG — A second suspect linked to the fatal shooting of popular media personality Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock is expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court this morning following his arrest at the weekend.

The 25-year-old Mozambican national was arrested on Friday night in the Marathon informal settlement in Primrose during a Crime Intelligence–led operation conducted jointly by the Gauteng Serious and Violent Crimes Investigation’s Provincial Investigation Unit, Crime Intelligence and the Ekurhuleni Metro Police.

“The arrest took place at around 20:00. The suspect will face charges of murder and contravention of the Immigration Act,” said police spokesperson Brenda Muridili.

The arrest follows the detention of the first suspect, Victor Mthethwa Majola (44), who has been in custody since late December and was recently denied bail by the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court.

Majola faces charges including premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit murder in connection with DJ Warras’ killing.

Majola’s was denied bail amid concerns from the court that he could intimidate witnesses and evade trial if released, with conflicting residential addresses cited as part of the reasoning.

The case has been postponed to Wednesday 11 February for further investigations.
