Two full-feature films created by international film company Redeemer Pictures will be screening at Alpha Cinema in Welkom, starting this weekend.
Based in Welkom, Redeemer Pictures is the brainchild of Skeelo Khumalo, an established cinematographer who states: “I create films to awaken humanity.”
Alpha Cinema has secured exclusive rights to screen Khumalo’s two films: “Axiomatic Truth” (2023)—an award winner at international film festivals—and “Repercussions” (2024), which will receive its premiere screening.
Local production
Both films were shot in Welkom and surrounding areas, with cast, extras, and crew sourced locally. Cinema-goers will have the pleasure of recognising familiar shops, venues, and landmarks throughout the productions.
Khumalo notes that only 55 tickets are available per screening on a first-come, first-served basis.
“Through bold storytelling, compelling characters, and fearless truths, we produce feature films and series that reflect the soul of society, challenge injustice, celebrate African identity, and spark dialogue across generations and cultures,” Khumalo explains. “We are committed to nurturing authentic voices, elevating underrepresented stories, and crafting content that educates, uplifts, and endures.”
Redeemer Pictures is a visionary film and television production company rooted in Welkom, within the Matjhabeng Municipal Area. Founded in 2020, it operates as more than a production house. “We are storytellers of the soul, architects of change, and torchbearers of African narratives for a global stage,” Khumalo states.
International recognition
In 2023, Khumalo unveiled his debut feature film, “Axiomatic Truth”—a bold and emotionally resonant drama exploring the psychological landscapes of truth, trauma, and resilience. This English-language, 87-minute feature made a significant impact on the international scene, earning acclaim across continents and winning recognition for:

Latest production
In early 2024, the company completed principal photography on their second feature film, “Repercussions,” a 94-minute romantic drama grounded in social realism. The film continues the tradition of crafting deeply human stories that challenge conventions and awaken empathy.
Khumalo, affectionately known as Mr K, serves as the creative helm of Redeemer Pictures. As a writer, producer, and director, his talent lies not merely in capturing stories, but in reviving consciousness.
