The Phuthaditjhaba SAPS are appealing to the community for assistance following the ghastly discovery of human remains believed to be those of a newborn baby.

The remains—the lower half of the infant’s body—were found dumped in a donga at Boiketlong Section, Mabolela Village in Qwaqwa by a community member who immediately alerted the police. The upper body could not be located, and it is suspected that it may have been mauled by dogs.

A case of concealment of birth has been opened, and investigations are continuing.

Anyone with information that may assist in tracing the suspect is urged to contact the Phuthaditjhaba Police Community Service Centre at 072 564 3200 or call CrimeStop on 08600 10111.
