A 22-year-old woman with down syndrome was rescued from the clutches of her alleged abductor and rapist by police in Goodwood last night.
The disabled young woman was last seen in a park in Goodwood yesterday 17 July, TygerBurger learned from a reliable source.
It is believed that the perpetrator took the woman at about 18:00 from where she was sitting on a bench. According to the source the man then took her to a guesthouse in Goodwood where rooms are rented out per hour, and allegedly raped her.
After a manhunt by police the suspect (29) along with the victim were found in Wellington Street at about 19:30.
According to provincial police spokesperson WO Joseph Swartbooi the circumstances surrounding this incident are still under investigation by the Bellville family violence, child protection and sexual offences unit – investigating cases of kidnapping and rape.
The man is due to appear in the Goodwood Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
