Women’s Month is a tribute to all strong women, past, present and in future.

On the West Coast one sees how important this month is to women. A few local women shared their thoughts on how important the month is and why it should be celebrated.

Zandile Jantjies says women have come a long way in fighting for recognition, both in social and political spaces. “It is an unceasing fight, so if anything women should be celebrated every day,” she said.

According to Naydine Paul from Vredenburg, Women’s Month is important to her because it shows how society has positively changed to the point where women now have an entire month in which they are acknowledged and celebrated for their contributions to humankind.

Nicolene Loubser, for her part, believes young girls with dreams will go on to become women of vision.

Vallerie Murphy shares the same sentiments as many women and says Women’s Month is a reminder of all the struggles women have overcome.
