The Saldanha Drags recently roared to life on Friday December 5 and Saturday 6 December, marking a significant milestone as the event celebrated its 20th anniversary.
Lawton van Oordt from West Coast Racing reflected on the weekend’s immense success. “As the wind died down while deconstruction was in progress, we as West Coast Racing sat and took stock of the event that just took place, and wow, have we a lot to be grateful for! We’d like to thank all who made this event possible, right down to the toilet janitors who had a rough job keeping those toilets clean.”
The Saldanha Drags saw an impressive turnout of over 3 600 spectators, all eager to witness the action of the 144 racers.
West Coast Racing feels blessed to have so many patrons who support them year in and out.
Van Oordt extended a special thank you to their racers, “your loyalty, sportsmanship and dedication is the reason Saldanha Drags has grown into one of the most anticipated high-speed events in the country where records are set and Personal Bests are broken.
“A special word of appreciation goes out to their two out of town competitors who made the effort to come, and experiences Saldanha Drags all the way from Joburg and Durban. West Coast Racing bets you are hooked now and will be back going forward without a doubt.”
Lawton thanked all the sponsors involved for making the two-day event a success. He also thanks Saldanha Bay Municipality, Law Enforcement, Provincial Traffic, police and paramedics for their assistance.
