Verusca Franzman, a 35-year-old teacher from Vredenburg, is a semi-finalist in the prestigious Mrs South Africa 2025 competition.

Warm and spontaneous, she is among the remarkable women from across all nine provinces who will soon join the upcoming Semi-Final Showcase in the hope of taking another critical step closer to the coveted crown.

Franzman said the Mrs SA experience had been far more than a personal endeavour; “it’s been a journey of growth that’s empowering me to open doors for others.

“I’m proud to show the West Coast our potential knows no bounds; we can step forward, rise with purpose and inspire right where we are.

“I entered Mrs South Africa because of my sister-in-law, who competed two years ago and inspired me more than she’ll ever know.

“Supporting her opened my eyes to a world beyond my West Coast town, and I started dreaming bigger for myself. That spark stayed with me.

“As a teacher I carry a deep responsibility; to show my little ones they can be anything they want to be. I wanted them to see courage in action. I wanted them to see one doesn’t need to be fearless; one just needs to be willing, that it’s okay to dream big even if it feels scary.”

In recent months Franzman has been actively involved in her community through working with Sr Rozaan Nel, visiting a small community school serving the 4- to 6-year age group, teaching them about living healthily.

Believing in the power of unity and compassion to create positive change has fuelled her determination to use the Mrs South Africa platform to make a difference in the lives of others.

“In my community people are often shy to speak about their goals or believe in possibilities beyond what they know.

“But on this journey I’ve seen hearts open. Pageantry was unfamiliar here, but I’m now 11th in SMS votes because my community is starting to believe in something bigger too.”

The Semi-Final Showcase will take place at the Theatre of Marcellus, Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park, Johannesburg at 20:00 on Friday 4 July.

This glamorous event will culminate in the announcement of the 2025 Top 30 finalists, who will continue their quest for the crown.

Joanie Johnson CEO of Mrs South Africa said each of the semi-finalists embodied the authenticity, courage and self-belief that Mrs South Africa represents.

“These extraordinary women are already using their voices and influence to stand in solidarity with vulnerable groups, and I’m incredibly proud of the ways in which they’re playing an active role in uplifting others.

“That’s what Mrs South Africa is about; fulfilling one’s own true potential and influence as a changemaker. What has made this group of women so special is how they’ve embraced this opportunity to grow, develop and create lifelong memories, and join our unique sisterhood while making a meaningful difference in their communities.”

Tickets to the Semi-Final Showcase are available at Ticketpro online, with prices starting at R850.

Franzman encourages friends, family and supporters to attend this spectacular event as she takes this important step on her Mrs South Africa journey.
