Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) has announced the appointments of three managing executives to oversee its three strategic regions as part of its new operating model aimed at addressing business sustainability and growth.

Advocate Motsatsi Phyllis Difeto will oversee the Western Region ports of Saldanha, Cape Town and Mossel Bay, effective 1 October.

She is the acting general manager: chief executive’s office at TNPA.

Moshe Motlohi, previously general manager of the Port of Durban, will oversee the Eastern Region ports of Durban and Richards Bay, effective 1 September while Siyabulela Mhlaluka, who was the GM: sales and new business development, will be responsible for the Central Region ports of Port Elizabeth, Ngqura and East London, effective 1 September.

Advocate Difeto joined Transnet in 2005 and has held numerous executive positions. Her Masters of Law, Masters of Commerce in Maritime Law, and Masters in Business Leadership – as well her extensive experience at TNPA and at the Transnet Group, has given her in-depth understanding of the maritime industry and the port system.

Her footprint in the maritime space is not limited to Transnet. She was the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Auditor for the South African Government under the IMO Voluntary Organisation Audit Scheme and has experience as the Secretariat for the South African and Global BRICS Business Council.

“The managing executives will have full operational accountability of the ports that they manage, and their proximity to operations will empower quicker decision-making to drive improved efficiencies,” the entity said in a statement.
