In an artistic triumph, the second edition of “The Yellow Door” art exhibition unfolded at Studio 26, in Port Owen on Saturday 2 December.

The exhibition showcased a breathtaking array of talent that left visitors spellbound. The event garnered widespread acclaim for its stunning, incredible, and amazing collection of artworks, reflecting the exceptional skills of local artists.

Like work from artist Marietjie Jacobs with her vibrant and happy artworks, Nicolette Moolman’s profound statements of the inner self and the ocean, Danie Malherbe’s true portrayal of the essence of the West Coast, Ziané Muller’s excellent graphite sketches, and Willie Jacobs’s realistic yet impressionistic portraits and figurative paintings.

The exhibition not only captivated art enthusiasts, but also played a crucial role in elevating awareness about the high calibre of artistic expression within the local community. Those attending were quick to praise the brilliance, excellence, and beauty that permeated the display, making it a memorable experience for all.

A couple of surprises unfolded like strokes on canvas as well. Willie Jacobs, renowned for his high quality portraits, astounded visitors with the unveiling of a commissioned masterpiece, a captivating portrayal of a well-known family in town. The awe-inspiring moment resonated with all who witnessed the reveal, adding an extra layer of excitement to the already exceptional exhibition.

The second surprise that added an extra flair to the exhibition, was a Danie Malherbe painting of “Golden Gate”, which he offered to a lucky winner to be drawn from the visitors book. In a stroke of luck, Corné van Wyk emerged as the fortunate winner of Danie’s masterpiece, a mesmerizing depiction of “Brandwag”.

Organisers said the event was a success and anticipation builds for the next exhibition scheduled for Saturday 2 March 2024.
