Members of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) and SA Navy, and Military Academy (MA) personnel celebrated the hard work of students at the annual passing-out parade.
It took place on the MA’s parade ground in Saldanha on Thursday 14 December.
Minister Thandi Modise was on hand to congratulate the students as were several high-ranking Department of Defence officials, Stellenbosch University staffers and friends and proud parents of third-year students.
“We would like to see you step into the future of the armed services as career personnel,” Modise told the graduates, “to serve, obey and defend, not yourselves, but this country and its people”.
She said she hopes the graduates continue to be lifelong learners and become the leaders of the SANDF.
Top achievers were also fêted for their outstanding academic performances. Lt JM Mametja was the top MA 2023 student receiving the Sword of Honour as well as being the top Defence Intelligence student.
