The second leg of the West Coast Street Mile hosted by the Langebaan Athletics Club (LAC) welcomed many athletes on Saturday 13 September.
According to Leroy Jacobs of LAC the atmosphere was great with much excitement in the air.
“What stood out for me was the determination of all the athletes who competed, and the win of the Springboks brought positive vibes, with ‘Sister Bethina’ blasting on the speakers after the win.”
The third and final leg of the Street Mile Series is on Saturday the 27th at the Seabreeze Hall in Langebaan. Jacobs added that LAC’s athletes were looking forward to a great competition, particularly for the prize money, with the winning seniors taking home R10 000.
For race director Christopher Rodgers such an event presents a great opportunity for people on the West Coast to take part in something healthy that also fosters community. He said it is a great way to promote athletics among the young, as being conducive to their development.
Jacobs thanked everyone who came from near and far to participate in the race and is looking forward to the grand finale.
