I am a member of the Middelpos community in Saldanha. The construction work in Sibevana Street was left unfinished. Driving on that street is painful for man and machine.

Saldanha Bay Municipality responds: Construction of lower Sibevana Street could not be completed due to some issues encountered by the Municipality. During the excavation process, we found that the existing asbestos water pipeline was very shallow and within the alignment where the new road was to be constructed. We first have to relocate the waterpipe outside of the roadway where the new road will be constructed/built. If this is not done, the contractor may possibly damage the waterpipe and residents will be without water for a period of time. The asbestos pipeline will also be replaced with new (PVC) waterpipes which have already been procured. The construction of the remainder of the road will commence after the completion of the above-mentioned activities. In the interim, we will liaise with the contractor on the possibility of blading the gravel section of the road with a grader.
