The u-14 boys from Masiphatisane Primary School and the u-16 boys from Diazville High School proudly stand with their trophies.


The South African Football Association (Safa) West Coast Schools are making their mark in the region.

The leagues range from boys’ and girls’ u-10 to u-16.

On Saturday 10 September, Safa West Coast Schools Football held regional finals for the boys and girls u-14 and u-16 at the Louwville Sports Grounds.

At the end of the regionals Masiphathisane Primary School’s u-14 boys were crowned champions after beating Naphakade Primary School in the finals. Masiphathisane Primary School’s u-14 girls were also victorious. This placed the school on top of the log in a round robin tournament system that was applied in the regional finals. Vooruitsig Primary School from Darling was placed second on the log and received silver. When it came to the u-16 boys, Diazville High School were crowned champions after beating Weston High School in the finals. The u-16 boys of Weston High School received silver medals after ending in second place.

Furthermore the u-16 girls of Vooruitsig Primary School were crowned champions after topping the log during the round robin. Masie Ntanjana, the coordinator for schools’ football in the West coast said SAFA is doing a great job with the schools in the West Coast.

“Gerald Don, president of SAFA West Coast and his executive team put all their focus into promoting school football in our region,” she said.

Ntanjana would like to congratulate all the teams and their coaches.

“A special thank you also to all the principals of the schools for making soccer a priority in their schools.”

Registration for next year will start in the fourth term, all schools are requested to register their schools.
