Representing South Africa and the West Coast at the 2025 World Darts Federation World Cup in South Korea is a great honour for Warrick Scheffer and Vossie Oosthuizen.
Currently Scheffer is the SA darts number 1 champion player for men and Oosthuizen the no 1 SA champion player for women. They will join the Protea team who will be taking part in the World Cup. For Scheffer taking part in the World Cup means more to him than words can explain. “I started my journey playing darts at the age of 13 being inspired by my mom who passed away in 2022, who at the time was also playing darts for many years. She also represented West Coast darts back in the late 90s, so to represent West Coast has personal meaning. To represent South Africa in any sport should be is a huge achievement that anyone should be proud of, but doing it for a sport that I just adds that something special not everyone gets to experience in their life time.”
Scheffer looked forward to walking in his South Africa colours before everyone, “letting them know where we come from, but also to spend some time with friends we made through darts, whom we see only once a year at the South African Darts Nationals. Of course, to see South Korea and experience its people’s way of living.”
Oosthuizen shares the same sentiments and is proud to represent the West Coast. “I look forward to playing against the world’s best dart players on the continent, especially England, the world’s number 1 country to beat in darts.”
The duo is due to set off on Saturday 20 September.
