The newly established Rotary Club of Langebaan has partnered with Langebaan Primary School to provide assistance and support in meeting the school’s urgent needs.
Langebaan Primary School has been providing education to learners in Langebaan for over four decades. The school currently enrols 513 children, ranging from Grade 1 to Grade 7. Among them, 180 children are identified as needing assistance and receive two meals a day through the school’s feeding programme. It’s important to note that Langebaan Primary School operates as a “no fee” school and relies heavily on external donations and funding.
Langebaan Rotary’s Jolene Butler said it is however concerning to know that the school is only scheduled for maintenance by the Department of Education in 2026.
There are several urgent needs that Langebaan Primary School requires immediate assistance with. These include the construction of additional classrooms, providing tablets for Grade 6 and 7 learners, establishing an assembly hall and library, acquiring a school bus, implementing educational life skills programmes, and launching reading and math literacy projects.
“We need your support as part of our community to help the school operate at its best. By doing so, we can instil pride and confidence in our educators and also in the crucial first phase of education, which every child deserves,” said Butler.
She says this phase plays a significant role in shaping their character for the rest of their lives.
“We believe that fostering pride in their learning environment is essential, as reflected in our school slogan: ‘We enter to learn, we leave to serve.’”
