Giving back to the community and making the dreams of matrics come true is a mission Amber Seanes embarked on five years ago.
The founder of Our Photo Journey decided every matric boy and girl needed their farewell to be a special day and should be captured and treasured. Seanes realised that to have a professional photographer take photos on this day is a luxury only a few can afford, and decided to offer her skills for free for those in need. She wants to make it a memorable day.
Schools include the Weskusskool, Weston High, Diazville High and the Longacres Private School to name a few.
“Matric farewells are very expensive. You are in matric and have so many things to stress about, I feel this should not be one of it. If I can help to offer a free photoshoot to matriculants and parents, it gives me joy. I believe that if you can’t offer what you are doing for free, then you don’t love it enough.
“I love photography and want to capture special moments, give a warm feeling to other people and see how happy they are when they receive their photos. And seeing the matriculants happy is the whole point and vision.”
Seanes would like to see more photographers and videographers come onboard as well as sponsors who can assist with printouts and more.
“We really just want to help as many learners as possible.”
