Unstinting detective work has led to the arrest of the suspected killer of a 24-year-old spaza shop owner in Noordhoek, Velddrif, at 00:15 on Christmas morning (Monday 25 December).
Detective Sergeant Emileo Benjamin arrested Anele Mbadeni (37), out on parole for murder, last week on charges of murder and business robbery. He allegedly shot and killed Degenet Lada (24), an Ethiopian citizen, in his spaza shop in Tulp Street, Noordhoek.
An unknown amount of cash, cigarettes, food and mobile phones were robbed during the incident.
Mbadeni was out on parole for another murder he had been convicted of; he stabbed a 25-year-old man to death on Saturday 7 September 2013.
He left fingerprints at the scene in Tulp Street which led to his arrest on Tuesday 13 February in Middelpos, Saldanha.
Mbadeni appeared in the Laaiplek Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 14 February.
