The Noord Civils/Prime Growth Invitational got off to a bracing start this past weekend with teams working towards the final in May.
The Sea Harvest Penguins, Oxigim Superheroes, Noord Civils/Prime Growth, Brookby Warriors, Sussex Lions and Pirates Bar Langebaan are all competing, ultimately to be crowned the victors.
In this past weekend’s matches the Oxigim Superheroes beat Sussex Lions with 19 runs with a final score of 150/17.2-169/20. Noord Civils/Prime Growth trumped the Brookby Warriors with 14 runs while the Sea Harvest Penguins won their match against Pirates Bar Langebaan with five runs.
Loutjie van Wyk was the man with the bat to beat taking 72 runs. He was one of seven players on the day to reach 50. The top bowler of the day was Johan van Dyk of Oxigim Superheroes taking three wickets with 18 balls. The teams will battle it out on the field for the next six weeks, with the champs crowned on Saturday 21 May.
