No serious injuries or fatalities were reported after several vehicles were involved in a crash on the R27 (West Coast Road) on Sunday between Grotto Bay and Yzerfontein.
The provincial traffic department said a head-on collision occurred, apparently caused by a drunken driver, followed by a second one involving a vehicle towing a boat.
The second collision occurred as casualties of the first one were being attended to on the scene. A third vehicle, allegedly also driven by someone who was intoxicated, ploughed into the vehicles, causing havoc on the road.
