NSRI stations across the country will be hosting an open day on Saturday 1 October.

National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) stations across the West Coast will be hosting an open day on Saturday 1 October at the bases of the stations.

Nic Stevens, Station Commander of NSRI Station 4 (Mykonos), says the open day is taking place nationwide and gives the public the opportunity to have a look at what the volunteers do and also view the bases and vessels.

“It will be a great day out for young and old to see what happens in a busy working rescue base,” he said.

“We also have some interesting vessels and rescue equipment to display.”

Stevens added the institute will conduct various demonstrations on the day and its rescue crew will address visitors about the different aspects of sea rescue and also share some interesting stories.”

Open days nationwide will start at 10:00 until 15:00.

NSRI Station 4’s open day will take place at its base in the Mykonos Marina, while NSRI Yzerfontein Station 34 will host its own at Yzerfontein Harbour, and NSRI Lamberts Bay Station 24’s event will take place at its base in the Main Road.

All are welcome.
