The police found 63 bags of lobster tails in the boot of a Polo Vivo.

The West Coast Rural Flying Squad spotted a suspicious-looking vehicle on the R27 West Coast Road while doing routine patrols on Wednesday 1 March.

According to Captain Tania Helfrich, spokesperson for the West Coast Police District, the vehicle, a white Polo Vivo, was heading in the direction of Cape Town and heavily loaded.

It was pulled to the side of the road and 63 bags of lobster tails were found in the boot of the Polo. They contained 5 802 lobster tails to the value of R290 000.

Three suspects were arrested and will appear in court once charged.
