Langebaan Pre-Primary Community School opened its doors on Saturday 15 May.

Principal Bevelynn Blaauw says the day was a huge success. The dream of opening her very own school has finally become a reality. Establishing the school was not an easy journey, and meant overcoming many challenges on the way.

Langebaan Pre-Primary had its official first school day on Monday 17 March. The school currently has 65 learners with 30 Grade R learners, 20 pre-Grade R learners and 15 pre-pre-Grade R learners.

Blaauw says Langebaan Pre-Primary aims to provide quality education, instructing learners in all possible areas, employing a holistic approach.

She added the school respects all religions.

“I acknowledge and respect all religions, but as a Christian school we will spread the Gospel of God among my leaners. My admission policy stipulates we won’t force any leaner to partake in our assembly.”

Blaauw would like to thank the late Mariam Allie, who believed in her dream and fought for her. She is also grateful to staffers Tamiryn Rodgers, Grace Lino, Julia Tshabalala and Jenine Snewe.

The following people had donated and supported her tremendously over the past year: John and Ester Roth, Armando Coelho, Lana Ebersohn, Alta Nell, Grassroots West Coast, DSD , Cornel Kogg (school auditor), Wina Truter (school accountant) Wilson and Bailey company, Tronox, Woolworths Laguna Mall, Brights Laguna Mall, Spar Langebaan, Japan Marine and the Saldanha Bay Municipality. Lastly, Blaauw would also like to thank her fiancé Ashwin Oakes for all his moral support and encouragement.
