Langebaan Animal Care (LAC) had its official ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday 21 January. Present on the day was Saldanha Bay Municipality (SBM) Mayor André Truter, Deputy Mayor Charmaine Laubscher, Ward Councillor Wilhelm America and Councillor Jaco Kotze. Truter said he was blown away by what had been achieved in so short a time. “This is an absolutely amazing team of volunteers who have turned this facility into an animal sanctuary,” he said. “The animals look amazing and are super relaxed.” Truter added that during his tour of the facility he saw that every single detail was seen to. “Their single focus is the welfare of the animals. This facility deserves our support and is a true asset to the area. LAC, I salute you and the work you do.” Pictured are: Margie Bredenhan (committee member and head of adoptions), Laubscher, Izelle Maralich (chairperson of the committee and head of LAC), Truter, Carol Mcdonald (committee member and secretary), Janet Scott (committee member and treasurer), Lynette Opthof (committee member and head of LAC Charity Shop) and Ella Groenewald (committee member and head of fieldwork).
