On Saturday 23 April the popular Laguna Mall 10 km road race and 5 km fun run returns after a two year wait due to Covid.
The event is presented by Laguna Mall Langebaan in conjunction with Club Mykonos Multisport, and takes place at Laguna Mall in Langebaan. This event has grown from a handful of runners in 2009 to close to 500 runners in 2019.
The 10 km starts at 08:00 and the 5 km at 08:10. Both races are suitable for walkers as well. The 5 km is ideal for the younger and not so fit runners, while the 10 km race will be a good challenge for the more serious runner.
Entries can be done at the venue on the day of the race between 06:30 and 07:55. Entry fees are R80 for the 10 km and R30 for the 5 km fun run. If you are not a member of a running club, and you plan to run the 10 km, then you will have to purchase a temporary licence number as well. The cost for a temporary licence is R40. No licence is necessary for the 5 km fun run. Medals will be given to all finishers in the 10 km and 5 km races. There are also many spot prizes up for grabs.
The starting point is at the northern side of the mall (parking area in front of Brights) and the route takes you through Long Acres and back to the finish.
For those needing fuel in their bellies before the race, the coffee shops in the mall will be open for coffee and /or breakfast. For those who have never seen a real-life camel before, join the 10 km route and see if you can spot them.
