Having a special place in their hearts for neglected animals, the Ladies Exercise Group (LEGs) from St Helena Bay enjoy giving back.
Desiree Gibson, a qualified modern dancer and exercise teacher in charge of LEGs, explained the group enjoyed having charity projects throughout the year to give back to the needy. Once again this year LEGs hosted a Christmas for the SPCA in Vredenburg on Tuesday 5 December to aid them with much-needed food items for the animals, which were dropped off at the SPCA on Wednesday 6 December. Not only did they receive food, but R2 120 in cash as well. The funds were generated through a raffle. The prizes were donated by three ladies in the group. A crocheted blanket from Jeannie de Kock, a watercolour painting by Susan Tatham and hand made silver Jewellery from Margi van Zyl.
The SPCA in Vredenburg expressed their gratitude to the group saying their kindness knows no bounds.
Throughout they have also made donations to the Watershed Animal Rehabilitation fund, who aid in caring for sick animals and sterilisations of domestic and stray animals in Laingville and the Cove.
Gibson said LEGs enjoyed making life easier and happier for the less fortunate and to help as many animals as they can throughout the year.
“It gives us personal satisfaction to be in a position to be able to do this. This is still a relatively small group of ladies, and we hope it will grow in the near future.
“I see growth in membership and the ability not only to exercise together, but to help as many animals in distress as possible.”
