The West Coast TVET College Centre for Entrepreneurship Rapid Incubator (CFERI) successfully hosted the Allen Gray Makers Inter-College Entrepreneurship Competition on Thursday 8 June.
The event took place at the Vredenburg campus. This was a national competition in which 50 public TVET College students competed, starting at College (Inter-Campus) to Regional (provincial) and then at national level. The aim of the competition was to develop an entrepreneurial mindset among TVET college students that will lead to the establishment and growth of innovative businesses.
Students competed in the following categories: Business Idea, General Business, Artisan Business or Technology Business. The finalists pitched their business concepts to a panel of judges, consisting of Thandile Cebisa from the National Youth Development Agency, Edwena Snyer from Snyer Business Solution, and Sivuyile Gulwa from the Small Enterprise Development Agency, after which two winners per category were selected.
Winners and runners-up received cash and in-kind prizes sponsored by Sea Harvest Foundation, Bidvest Waltons Stationery and National Office Stationery to grow their businesses, and certificates of participation were awarded to all the participants.
