Four young soccer players from the West Coast received the opportunity of a lifetime to attend soccer trials in Spain this year. This after being selected by BT Football Recruitment Agency.

They, however, need the help of the community to make this dream a reality.

All four young men share the same sentiments and say this opportunity would mean so much to them.

Esethu Matinise (20) says it is every soccer player’s dream to play overseas. Ruan Julies (16) also reiterates that this is a dream come true.

When it comes to 19-year old Denico Monk he says soccer is his life and is therapeutic to him as well.

For 17-year old Brad-Lee Arendse soccer became part of his life at the age of 11 and he now lives and breathes the sport.

Brad-Lee’s mother Chrissie Arendse is extremely proud of her son and what he has achieved so far, and she believes the other parents feel the same way about their children.

Denico’s father, Desmond Monk, also says he is very proud of his son.

“He is definitely in his element and after working so hard for years he deserves this opportunity,” he said.

All four boys need R20 000 each by the end of August and a further R17 500 each by Thursday 8 December.

The funds will be used for flights, accommodation and visa applications among other necessities.

To help raise the funds, sales and events will be hosted.
