Residents who may have been putting off any healthcare visits can now get all the needed tests and healthcare services at their door step while the Transnet Phelophepa Health Train visits the area.

The train will be at the Saldanha train station from Monday.

This health-care outreach is organised and offered by Transnet and covers various medical care. Along with free health care education which includes cancer and diabetes screenings and Hiv/AIDS tests, eye tests is also available.

At the eye clinic patients will also be able to purchase a pair of spectacles (R30) and eye drops (R5) after they get their free eye test.

Anyone looking to get a Covid-19 jab can also do so.

Medicine prescriptions will be R5 per prescription.

Residents in need of assistance with their mental health can be sure to make use of the free counselling and psychology services. Individuals can attend workshops covering coping with stress, abuse, conflict, parenting and empowerment.

If dental services is what is needed be sure to visit the dental clinic. Screenings and education is available free of charge. No false teeth will be made but the team will do fillings and cleanings.

All procedures for children under 15 years is free while adults will have to pay R10 per procedure.

Patients should be sure to get to the train early as it is first come first service. Also be sure to bring your clinic cards along.

The train will be operational until Friday (7 October) and again from Monday, 10 October to Friday, 14 October.
