At the Western Cape High Schools Chess Championships, which took place at Emil Weder High School in Genadendal between Thursday 21 and Friday 22 March, Matthew Opperman and Zanco Basson competed in a very competitive u-18 section. Both players showed good form, with Basson finishing on 3,5 points, and Opperman on 3 (out of a possible 6).
