Kayleigh Barnard, owner of Girl-School West Coast.

There are 31 Girl-School franchises in the country, and now the West Coast boasts its very own, which opened in April 2022.

Covering areas such as Vredenburg, Yzerfontein, Hopefield, Langebaan and more, owner Kayleigh Barnard is more than equipped to lead the young ladies. Girl-School focuses on teaching and equipping girls with what they need to prepare for their teenage years. Through various courses it aims to arm girls with principles and lessons that are destined to serve them well for life.

Barnard said getting involved with Girl-School was the easiest decision she had ever made. “I believe it has always been what God had planned for me. From a young age I was a modelling teacher for young girls, so naturally when I heard about Girl-School I knew this was it.”

Why a Girl-School on the West Coast, one might ask. Barnard explained every big city and small town has its benefits or things people love about a place, but it also has its challenges, one of them being that they do not have all the opportunities the big cities have to offer.

“I hope to build close relationships with these girls from young, equip them and see them blossom as they grow. With your daughter enrolled in this extramural activity she will be empowered and prepared for her teenage years.”

Barnard said curricula focus on age-appropriate topics such as healthy friendships, how to stand up for oneself, bullying, self-imaging, self-care, skin care, social media, cyber security and so much more.

“We are visiting mainstream schools around this area to roll the 15-week course out to fit in with the school calendar and other extramural activities and exam timetables. We have also launched the Girl-School teen courses in 2023, a 20-week course for girls aged 14 to 19. This one I am exceptionally excited about.”

Girl-School West Coast will have its next course in Langebaan during the June/July school holidays. “Bookings are starting to come in, and we are excited to meet each student. We have done classes in the past with anything from six to 15 girls; we permit only a maximum of 15 girls per class, enabling us to pay individual attention to each girl.” . They offer the following courses in Afrikaans and English.

  • .

– Tween (ages 10 to 13) two day course.

– Tween (ages 10 to 13) 15 weeks.

– Teen (ages 14 to 19) 20 weeks.

Barnard adds that putting the spotlight on leadership and confidence development Girl-School has a responsibility and an exciting opportunity to equip girls to become leaders. “So they, in turn, empower and inspire other girls. Teaching them they are leaders who have what it takes. Girl-School by The Confidence Co is more than a course. It is a movement!”.
