In a remarkable display of talent and determination, five young athletes from Paternoster Hoopsig recently participated in the AJP Tour South Africa National Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2023, held in Oranjezicht, Cape Town on Sunday 15 October.
These promising martial arts athletes left an unforgettable mark on the tournament, securing an impressive array of medals.
The Paternoster Hoopsig team showcased their skills and sportsmanship, earning a total of five medals. Among these coveted awards were three gold medals, one silver medal and one bronze medal, making the institution proud and exemplifying the dedication and hard work these young athletes have put into their training with coaches Rudi and Hanneke Viljoen from Rio Grappling Club Langebaan and assistant coach, Wimpie Rossouw.
Rossouw also participated in the competition and earned two gold medals. The team’s unwavering focus, technical proficiency and relentless determination paved the way for their victories.
