The F1 Powerboat Water Festival was the first of its kind on the West Coast, drawing around 2 350 spectators.

The event took place at the St Helena Bay Harbour on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 February.

The idea for the Water Festival came from Veldriwwer Morne Herholdt, who himself is a powerboat champion. According to Gilda Nunes, one of the organisers, the event was a huge success and well-supported. “The highlight of course was the F1 powerboats and the junior development class which was the children from St Helena Bay,” she said.
