Partners for Possibility (PfP) hosted another programme along with the eight schools in the West Coast.

The principals from the schools and other members of the community committed to making a difference, during the dynamic community building workshop held on Wednesday 10 November and Thursday 11 November at Diazville Primary School.

The two-day workshop provided the powerful experience of engaging with communities in a completely different way to turn problems into possibilities.

AJ Edge, learning process facilitator and representative of PfP, said instead of being leaders as experts, who are expected to have all the answers, participants developed skills to be leaders as conveners who invite community members to problem solve together.

“New ways of working with communities emphasised the importance of ensuring that every voice is heard and acknowledging the gifts that every community member has and can contribute,” said Edge.

Mervyn Ruiters, principal of Noordhoek Primary, said it changed his whole outlook and approach to getting people involved.

Fortune Monk, parent and School Governing Body (SGB) member of Noordhoek Primary, said the most important thing he learned was how possibilities can be unlocked.

“The community building structure is epic I will use it at work and church as well as with the SGB.”

The workshop was facilitated by Social Scientist Doctor Rama Naidu.
