Vernon McIntosh will be cycling from Langebaan to Durban for a good cause.

One of the most effective and inexpensive tools to deal with emotional health and trauma is exercise and caring for an animal. It is in aid of addressing trauma and abuse of animals, and promoting healing that Vernon McIntosh of Studio Fit will cycle from Langebaan to Durban.

He will be raising funds for Langebaan Animal Care (LAC), SerendiPitty Rescue (in KwaZulu-Natal) and the Lives With A Purpose Foundation.

The Langebaan resident knows only too well the emotional difficulties many face, whether it be through depression, trauma or post-traumatic stress disorder. The Lives With A Purpose Foundation, which is a campaign partner, provides trauma debriefing and counselling.

Finding healing and peace through exercise and also sharing a love for animals is what motivated him to take on this challenge. “I asked for a bigger purpose in life than what I am doing now and was given that purpose, to cycle for a good cause,” McIntosh said.

He will depart from LAC on Saturday 29 April and make the 1 800 km journey to Durban, ending on Saturday 13 May, cycling 130 to 140 km a day.

But his campaign will be launched on Friday 14 January at shop 3 B at Watfront Centre in Langebaan. The help of everyone is needed to make it a success.
