Wielie Wallie Crèche in Elands Bay now has a new look, all thanks to the Elands Bay police and other stakeholders.

After the first break-in was reported in January 2023 at the crèche, Captain Gerrit Jonker and Warrant Officer Jorrie Jordaan of the Elands Bay police started to build a relationship with it.

Its vision and mission were to keep the children safe and turn the property into a safe space, also contributing to the image of the crèche.

By consulting businesses in the Elands Bay area and surrounds, as far as Lamberts Bay, the vision became a reality on Thursday 16 February.

The project entailed the installation of an alarm system, planting of grass and plants, a playground for the children and other repairs.

Helena Mostert, principal of the Wielie Wallie Créche, was very impressed when this project came to life and thankful for all the effort and contribution made towards it.

The children were also treated to hotdogs for lunch.

Jordaan thanked all the members from the police who assisted in making the project a success.

Elands Bay police would also like to thank the following people for their contribution:

Anthony of EST alarms for sponsoring the entire alarm system:

Piet Miller – Elanda Shop

Patrick Hayes – Elands Bay Hotel

Iann Joubert – Electrician

Francois Coetzee – Verlorenvlei Farming

Elisna Carstens – Spotlights

Csillag Southey – Employment Wellness Programme team

Inspector Jacques Southey – Department of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries

Troyanne Foods – for donation contributed.
