A vehicle caught fire when travelling on the R45, near the Hopefield Wind Farm, Monday morning, 26 September.

According to the incident report provided by the Western Cape provincial traffic department, an adult and a child were travelling in a white Land Rover SUV early on Monday morning when the vehicle burst into flames.

The driver and young passenger were not harmed.

Des Paton, District Traffic Director for the Cape Metro and West Coast, stated a road accident had not caused the fire, but an electrical fault may have, although this had not yet been confirmed at the time of writing.

The incident on the R45 did not have any significant impact on traffic.
