The Air Force Base Langebaanweg hosted a medal and certificate ceremony on Friday 24 November.
This noted event awards 10-year service medals and certificates for outstanding achievements in honour of many years’ service and in recognition of the outstanding achievements of those who were awarded medals.
Attended by many, the atmosphere was one of pride and camaraderie.
Major-General Siphiwo Dlomo, who presided over the proceedings, pointed out that after 10 years’ service one had acquired enough knowledge to discern what was needed for the South African Air Force to be an even better organisation, and the essence of leadership lay in the amalgamation of focus, learning and effort.
The ceremony, which served as a testament to commitment and dedication to the Air Force, concluded with the general putting emphasis on decision making urging that it is a paramount skill.
Dlomo added that “indecision is costly and deadly, but is it founded on experience and leaning on your colleagues and seniors?”
