Shanelle de Villers, Weston learner, held an event for young women as part of her “Menstruation is not a choice #help a girl in need” project.


Community worker and learner Shanelle de Villers had an evening of girl power, pride and education for young girls at her high school this week.

Shanelle (18) is currently a learner at Weston High School.

She is in charge of the “Menstruation is not a choice #help a girl in need” project. This organisation helps collect feminine hygiene products for young woman who might not have the means to buy it themselves.

“The event was absolutely amazing. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed and who took time to attend. It was such a pleasure having all those young girls there. I’m trying to make a change and I love what I’m doing and I always will,” Shanelle said of the event. Aside from the donations the young women were also treated to motivational talks.
