The provincial winners of the 2021 National Teaching Awards were announced on Friday 3 September.
All teachers, governing bodies and district officials were invited to submit nominations of teachers at registered public sector schools. These awards are an opportunity to celebrate the outstanding work of teachers during the past year – one that has been made especially difficult by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Cecilia de Vries from Langebaanweg Primary School kept the West Coast’s name high and won the excellence award in Grade R teaching.
Western Cape minster of Education of Debbie Schäfer said the provincial winners this year have demonstrated their dedication to the education of the children in the toughest of times.
