World Teacher’s Day was celebrated worldwide on Tuesday 5 October.
It is a day when we celebrate teachers for all they have done and are still doing.
Teachers have played a major role in the lives of learners for many years and have taken on a more difficult task since the beginning of the pandemic.
Learners Stacey Langley, a grade 11 learner from Weston High School, Leila Louw, a grade 11 learner from Curro Langebaan, Caro-Lee Cupido, a grade 11 learner from Diazville High School and Vergerey Oliphant, a grade 12 learner at Weston High School shared their appreciation for their teachers.
When talking to these four learners Louw highlighted that teachers are the building blocks for the nation’s future. Among other things Cupido said that no one works as hard as a teacher and yet teaching is one of the most underrated and unappreciated jobs in the world. Langley shared the same sentiments.
Oliphant said teachers should be celebrated so that they can see that they are truly appreciated for everything they do and that they also are highly respected.
