Umoya Energy, the Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA) in partnership with Breadline Africa, presented Louwville High School with a brand-new fully equipped kitchen. They also provided a cover for shade and seating benches at a special ceremony held at the school on Wednesday 8 December.

Petrina Pakoe, Director of PSFA, handed the kitchen keys to a delighted Emile Petrus, principal of Louwville High School at the ceremony. Thanks to the support of its donors, this is the 127th kitchen PSFA, in its 63 years, has supplied a school in the Western Cape.

Umoya Energy also provided PSFA with funding to provide 180 learners affected by poverty attending Louwville High with a daily cooked breakfast and lunch during 2021.

The 20 m² prefabricated structure is wind and airtight and is fitted with a double sink, a stainless steel worktop, storage cupboard, windows with burglar proofing which double as a serving hatch, extractor fan and firefighting equipment. There are also connections to hot water and gas.

PSFA provides Louwville High School with ingredients for a set weekly breakfast and lunch menu for 262 learners on its feeding programme as well as cooking gas when required.

PSFA also provides the volunteer food preparers at Louwville High with a monthly stipend.
