WhatsApp users can look forward to a few new features that will soon be available on the international messaging app.
The features include security and privacy updates. One of the new changes will allow users to change their online appearance setting. This means that you can choose who can see when you are online.
Another exciting feature is being able to block users from taking screenshots of view-once messages. The view-once messages setting has been included in the app for a while now, and it only allows the messages that you send to only be viewed once. Thereafter the message will disappear from the recipient’s chat.
WhatsApp also announced that users who want to delete the messages they’ve sent, will “have a little over 2 days to delete your messages from your chats after you hit send”.
There is also a new feature for the ones who are fed up with being bombarded with hundreds of messages that are sent to a group chat at once, but are too afraid to leave the group chat. You will soon be able to leave group chats without notifying other users, except the administration.
All these new features were recently announced by the chief executive officer of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg. Meta is a giant tech company that owns social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram.
“We’ll keep building new ways to protect your messages and keep them as private and secure as face-to-face conversations,” said Zuckerberg.
Whatsapp said the following in a blog post about the new features:. Leave Groups Silently: We love our group chats, but some are not forever. We’re making it possible to exit a group privately without making it a big deal to everyone. Now, instead of notifying the full group when you are leaving, only the admins will be notified. This feature will start to roll out to all users this month.. Choose Who Can See When You’re Online: Seeing when friends or family are online helps us feel connected to one another, but we’ve all had times when we wanted to check our WhatsApp privately. For the moments you want to keep your online presence private, we’re introducing the ability to select who can and can’t see when you’re online. This will start rolling out to all users this month.. Screenshot Blocking For View Once Messages: View Once is already an incredibly popular way to share photos or media that don’t need to have a permanent digital record. Now we’re enabling screenshot blocking for View Once messages for an added layer of protection. We’re testing this feature now and are excited to roll it out to users soon.
