Local entrepreneurs gathered at Freeport Saldanha’s Access Complex for various workshop sessions on Friday.

Local entrepreneurs were recently welcomed to a one-stop-shop workshop where everything from taxes to development was discussed.

The Department of Economic Development and Tourism partnered with Snyer Business Consulting, Mfesane, West Coast College, Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), Western Cape Government, Freeport Saldanha and the South African Revenue Service (SARS) to host a workshop intended for local entrepreneurs on Friday 25 November.

The aim of the day was to help locals and have entrepreneurial questions answered by the various stakeholders.

According to the organisers Freeport Saldanha’s Access Complex was filled with entrepreneurs of all ages and from all sectors to get the expert knowledge and information. Malibongwe Vusani, programme director and member of the Provincial Treasury, gave a presentation on how to do business with the provincial government. He explained and showcased a step-by-step guide in order to meet the requirements needed to do business with them. Vusani added that video tutorials are also available on the Western Cape Government’s website.

Presentations from SARS, the CIDB and a government representative focusing on the consumer protection act, all followed.

Jolene Simon of SARS explained how to do business taxes via e-filing and how to use the many online tools that businesses can make use of to stay informed and up to date on their taxes.

Entrepreneurs were told of the importance of registering themselves, how to register and the advantages of being registered with the CIDB thanks to Thanduxolo Ndyenge.

This workshop was highly informative and it will surely help many local entrepreneurs reach the level of business that they wish to, the organisers say.

The ceremony ended on a high as questions those attending had were answered to the fullest by the speakers and attendees and the workshop speakers left at the end of it suitably inspired and full of its benefits.
