All sorts of things can sprout from love.

But it depends on what you love.

Do you love people and the good you can do for others, or is it the love of power that propels you forward?

These days, looking at the state of our nation and its perpetually growing problems, the latter seems to rule our leaders.

It is the love of what others can do for you, the love of what you stand to gain by performing certain acts that distorts the line between what is good and what is not good for you.

Our leaders preach about their love for our country and our people, but it does not reflect in their actions or decisions on how they choose to run our collective business.

For if the love they proclaim was pure and selfless we would not be worried about the literal and figurative darkness consuming our lives so bombastically.

If their love was indeed for us and not the fullness of their pockets our fridges, our food supplies and wallets would not border on barren wastelands every few weeks.

But through love we as a nation can also change the narrative and show our leaders what it is to provide services for the benefit of others and not just themselves.
