The Western Cape Blood Service (WCBS) is experiencing a blood shortage in the O- blood group, as there is only three days’ blood supply.
Other blood groups that are experiencing a shortage are A+, B+ and B- blood groups. The service is appealing to all eligible donors and the public to donate blood today.
Blood donation takes only 30 minutes of your time, and you can save up to three lives with one donation. The WCBS encourages all blood donors to find their closest blood-donation clinic in support of the many patients who need blood in this critical period.
“No matter who you are or where you are from we urge you to donate blood,” says Marike Carli, Public Relations Manager of WCBS. If you are between the ages of 16 and 75, weigh 50 kg or more, are in good general health and lead a safe sexual lifestyle, you should be able to donate.
